Ingredients:
Dal Baati Churma
Boiled Dal
1 cup split green gram with skin
2 tbsp chana dal
Dal tempering:
2 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp cumin
1/2 tsp asafoetida
2 tbsp garlic chopped
4 tbsp onions chopped
1 green chilly chopped
4 tbsp tomato chopped
Salt as required
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilly powder
2 tbsp coriander chopped
Baati
1 cup wheat flour
1.5 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp Salt
4 tbsp water
Churma
1 tbsp ghee
2 baati crushed into a coarse powder
2 tbsp almond chopped
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
2 tbsp powder sugar
Method of preparation:
Dal:
Heat a wok, add ghee and once the ghee heats add garlic, asafoetida. Saute them for few seconds.
Add onions, and saute till the raw smell goes away.
Add green chili, red chili powder, turmeric powder. Give them a mix.
Add tomatoes, boiled dals and give them a mix.
Add some chopped coriander and salt.
Give it a stir and your Dal is ready.
Baati:
In a bowl of wheat flour, add ghee and salt.
Mix them nicely till the texture of the flour resembles bread-crumbs.
Add little water and knead it into a dough.
Once the dough is ready divide it into portions.
Make a cross sign on the dough ball and next step is to bring it together. Tip: Do not press it too hard or leave it loose.
Bake the baatis on a gas burner, keep flipping them and ensure that they don't burn.
Churma:
Crush few baatis and transfer them in a grinder jar.
Crush it into a coarse powder.
Heat a pan, add ghee, cardamom pods, chopped almonds.
Saute them till its nice and fragrant.
Ensure that they do not change color.
After few seconds and in the crushed baatis.
Saute them on a medium flame for 5 minutes and transfer it into a bowl. Allow the mixture to cool down and then add powdered sugar. Mix them well.
Our Dal Baati Churma is ready.
